The Youth Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is a safe, caring, program for adolescents who struggle with a variety of behavioral and mental health issues. PHP may allow some patients to avoid hospitalization, or may help others transition from inpatient care.

Our youth and adolescent PHP is a daily treatment program serving those 17 and under who have recently been hospitalized with mental health issues or those who require structured mental health treatment and psychiatric support to return to normal functioning.

Like our inpatient programs, our approach focuses on building skills for daily living, developing self confidence and interpersonal skills, building healthy relationships and more.

Who should consider Youth PHP Treatment?

Our day program is ideal for teens who need structured, in-person mental health treatment, but don’t need full inpatient hospitalization. We can also provide care for those who have recently been admitted to a psychiatric hospital and are ready to shift to our partial hospitalization program.

Patients may enter our inpatient mental health & substance use program due to:

  • Anxiety disorders like generalized anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, etc.
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use and addiction
  • Suicidal or homicidal thoughts
  • Depression
  • Poor impulse control
  • Self-harm behaviors

What does an average day in the Youth Partial Hospitalization Mental Health Center look like?

Who Will Be Treating My Child?

Our team includes a variety of disciplines to manage every aspect of an adolescents mental health care. Every week patients meet one-on-one with a therapist and a psychiatrist for medication management. Additionally, there are daily group therapy sessions and a registered nurse is on site daily. Long-term care is managed by a case manager who is a master’s level therapist.
